Where did all the Aussie wines go? Lettie Teague from the Wall Street Journal gives us an exact breakdown in her article 'Can Australian Shiraz Come Leaping Back?'. She explains that at the turn of the millennium there were loads of them lining the shelves. Australia exported a dizzying array of products: wines made from every grape under the sun with fun names and animals on the label. Finally, consumers got tired of oaky, sweet, alcoholic, fruit bombs and are again seeking new balance in their glass. SIP is here to give you the good news. The cream is rising to the top and a new breed of Aussie export is on the horizon. Pewsey Vale has been in business for over 150 years, and since winemaker Louisa Rose took over in 1996, this winery is slated to do great things in the 21st century.
Flavor Profile: Medium-bodied, dry. Pale gold with green hues, the wine starts with peach, citrus, and herb. Flowers and rosemary on the palate with a finish of balanced acidity and minerals. Pair with fried fish, mayo-based salads, and Asian foods.
