2011 Gaia - Notios White

This area has been inhabited since prehistoric times and is home to notable cities like Corinth, Argos, and Sparta. The modern wine world sometimes forgets Greece's role in establishing European wine culture, but its ancient traders and colonists introduced viticulture to the southern regions of Italy, Spain, and France. The Greeks are essentially responsible for giving us the wine we drink today. Notios is a blend of Roditis (roe-dee-tees) commonly used in Retsina, and Moschofilero (moss-koe-fee-lero), an aromatic varietal resembling Muscat. Moschofilero and Roditis are perfect complementary grapes that really illustrate the potential of clean-flavored, modernized Hellenic wines.
Flavor Profile: Medium-bodied, dry. Stainless-steel fermented, the 2011 Notios has a nose of blossoms and a multifaceted palate of tropical fruit and zingy citrus leading into a clean finish. Pair with all types of light preparations using fish, pasta and chicken. Also great alone or with mezze.
